Negotiated a Palisade Limited AWD yesterday, $45,895 + ttl in the Seattle area. Plus they met the high end of the value on my trade, more than I expected. I pick it up today.
Great deal! Welcome to the group.

46k cash purchase or leased or financed?

that’s a great price

congrats

$46K is stout, but could be a sign of the times. $47,965 with destination and no options.

$46,000 OTD
$1,300 NC sales tax
$88 Tag/registration
$499 dealer fee
$44,113 NET

That's pretty good and about ~$3,850 and 8% off MSRP. I try to target 15 to 20% OFF MSRP. Unfortunately that is currently impossible for the Palisade,

Depends on if you're talking pre or post incentive. 15-20% will never happen pre-incentive on a palisade. I got mine for 15% off post-incentive though.

Wow. If you got an AWD limited for $40,800, that's a smoking deal! I've not seen anyone willing to deal on those. The less desirable SEL's and SE's are being discounted pretty heavily around us though so totally repeatable.

Mine is an SEL with every option. And I lucked out with the stars aligning as far as incentives went. It's a deal that is probably repeatable for a small amount of people, but very very dependent on incentive qualifications.

Limited are starting to go for about the same discount as SELs. It's just a matter of finding the right dealer. I know of others that have gone for 8% pre-incentive recently for AWD limiteds.

That makes sense. Several dealers around us are at 10% OFF MSRP already (like the Gates dealership on here) without any negotiating as SE and SEL's tend to stay around a little longer in inventory. The AWD Limiteds (especially with beige interior), pre-covid 19 were fetching $5K over MSRP. That's why that $44K Limited AWD caught my eye. There are definitely deals coming. I was negotiating on a new 2020 BMW X7 and the dealers dug in at $12K OFF sticker or 14.4%. I got that up to $15K OFF sticker last week or 18% OFF and finally settled on a CPO because the new vehicle deals pushed the CPO to less of a value versus new. Ultimately that was $20K OFF MSRP, 24% savings.

Sharing because the markets around new/used cars are changing quickly. I suspect that my deal is not only repeatable, within 3 months it will be beatable.

BMWs are always much easier to get big discounts on. There's no reason to pay more than 11-12% off pre-incentive on a new BMW.

Hyundai's structure is harder for a dealer to do so. Once you're at about 8% off pre-incentive, you've burnt completely through invoice and holdback and it only is making them money if they're marking up financing or have a ton of dealer profit add ons rolled in.

Dealer posted ads always need to be taken with a gigantic grain of salt, as they often include every incentive ever offered than no one actually qualifies for.

Agreed, but still easier to score 15% OFF the less desirable SE and SEL models. While your opinions about BMW prices may be accurate, I’d add that directionally, qualitative data like my deal moving from 14.4% to 18% OFF should be promising for those looking for deeper discounts moving forward on the more desirable Limited AWD Palisades. The $44K deal above may bode well for those with patience to let the deal come to them. The Palisade was a good deal at $48K, at $40K it’s hard to walk away.

You're only getting to 15% off post incentive if you fall into a very select group. In my case it was the ability to stack lease incentives, college grad rebates, the Ca tuition incentive, and bonus drive.

I doubt anyone else has gotten anywhere near 15% in an SEL or SE unless they were able to stack the same and got a huge deal.

wait, so if we are counting incentives, then I got 1000 off in addition to the 990 below msrp? (500 First Responder and 500 Bonus Drive)

hahaha

cool, I can convince myself I've paid less for the Palisade! woohoo!

I went into my purchase knowing I wasn't getting the absolute best deal, but it was decent for a California purchase on an AWD Ltd, at the time. I also knew the Palisade would be getting "cheaper" as inventory rises and there are more manufacturer to dealer incentives to move the car. But with Covid hitting, I think those additional incentives and discounts have been pushed a bit into the future.

I know I'm not a master negotiator but that's ok too. I'm happy enough with the deal I found and didn't want to spend any more time hunting. Others enjoy the hunt and that's cool too. If I had a good friend that loved to hunt for the absolute best deals then I would have brought him/her on board for me. hahaha

Next purchase is a Tesla, and at least with that I don't have to negotiate. I'll be stuck paying their msrp.

Yeah I don’t really count - first responder, college reimbursement, military, etc. as part of a negotiated deal, definitely fits the thread title of prices paid. But I agree with Raggy, not really brag-worthy getting 15% OFF MSRP. More a function of a state government incentive meets a sweet spot of other non-negotiated incentives. So what you actually negotiated was probably closer to the 8-10% range correct Sax? I’d like to see that deal sheet if you’re willing to share.

I've been very, very clear in delineating pre and post incentive discount amounts, which is the whole point. No one is getting 15-20% pre-incentive on a palisade ever. It's so far from the realm of reasonable. Post-incentive? Doable with the right combination of incentives.

The highest pre-incentive discount I've seen on a palisade is 10%. Best limited I've seen is 8%, but I'm sure we'll eventually see a non-zero amount approaching 10% there too.

Mine was about 7.5% pre-incentive. They showed a little more on paper, but then included $300 for lo-jack, which is pure dealer profit, so about 7.5% by the time you back that out.

Yeah, that makes more sense. 8-10% off is very doable on the SE and SEL’s for sure. Everything after that was either given to you by the State of California or non-negotiated incentives.

Gates advertises about 5% pre-incentive off SELs and MSRP on limiteds.

Gates looks to be the only dealer participating on this forum.......which is a shame.

I don't know that I'd go that far.

There are a small handful of dealers that in certain circumstances will do that, on all trims, but you have to work for it a lot and get lucky with finding a dealer in a less common circumstance.

I would. 8-10% very achievable for SE/SEL. I love a challenge. Small, or handful = 10 to 20 from where I’m sitting. Just need to look in the right places. When I wanted to find a deal on a BMW X7 I went to Northern VA, where the mega dealers are. 20 to 30 X7’s on their lots burning up cash flow. Just told them I was a serious buyer, bringing my own financing, looking to buy in the next 7 days must have $13K off MSRP to start. 10 emails to 10 dealers yielded 10 responses. 3 said have a nice day, 7 engaged. 7 became 3 after the first dealer went to $14K. Back and forth with 3 became 2 - Annapolis and Alexandria BMW. Gave Crown BMW one last chance and they went $20K OFF a CPO which is what I really wanted for the 4.5yr, unlimited mileage warranty. Super confident I could do that with a Palisade SE or SEL. Not very confident I could get a Limited AWD for 8-10% though. That was a smoking deal.
