Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

That tells us nothing. Where was the wind noise and which of the 4 fixes in the TSB was installed?

Driver's side wind noise (a whistling sound). The invoice mentions TSB 19 BD 010H; driver front door window run was replaced (whatever that means).

Picked my limited last week Tuesday. Had a chance to drive highways today and there was no real noise. I got it up to 78 for a while. Manufacture date was 11/29 so hopefully the problems were corrected in manufacture. (Unless they preformed the tsb's before delivery.)

Just got back from the dealer to attempt to fix the wind noise, they did not have the Glass Run P/N: 82530 / 82540 in stock, so they placed a special order for it and told me usually they receive ordered parts in 2 days but given that this has been an issue on many Palisades it will take longer and they could not give me an exact timeframe for the part to arrive. They did perform the modification to the door garnish and placed a high density foam but it did not eliminate the whistling/wind noise. I also got the recall for the Blind-Spot Collision Warning done Recall# 19-01-046H, I was getting the error message displayed for system failure, hope this is it for this vehicle for now. I was on the fence in purchasing a first year model since issues like this show up, and I know no new vehicle regardless of first year model or not have some issues, but when I purchased my new Honda 2012 Pilot I did not experience anything like this right out the gate. Last rant, I hate having to go to dealers, they had me waiting 2 and a half hours and this was an appointment, when I went out to get my car the guy who drives the cars into the garage told me my vehicle has been sitting out in the lot for a while and they just failed to inform me that the repair was completed. Hopefully, the follow-up to the wind noise repair will be a much better outcome. I forgot to mention the person that checks you in asked me if the issue was whistling or wind noise, and if the whistling or wind noise was coming from the back or the front, the way I guess you answered is what would determine what they attempt to do as far as the recall since there are multiple fixes (high density foam, replace glass run, replace outside mirror assembly, or reassemble the glass run) sounds like they are too lazy to diagnose correctly by looking at all 4 options.

Got a dealer quoting 59% residual on a 36 mos/12000 limited lease . Seems high, any comments or comparisons. Looks like he’s making an additional $5000 on the deal. Not great!!!

Ever consider another dealer...?

Definitely will be looking to have my Palisade serviced at a different dealer after I get this recall completed and my first maintenance at 3,750 miles since it came free with the purchase, regardless it’s hard but hopefully not impossible to find a reliable, honest and good communicating dealer. I live in Philadelphia and mostly took my Honda Pilot to New Jersey to get serviced, better prices and good communication throughout the service process, very few Honda dealers in Philadelphia met an excellent standard of service. I will be trying other Hyundai dealers in Philly before heading back to NJ if needed.

You should post this in Prices Paid instead of Wind noise in Palisade...

I am taking my new Limited in tomorrow. I have a copy of the TSB, but I don't have the whistle noise. Just a ton of wind noise on the road and also if there is any wind outside at all. The cabin itself is just not at all quiet. I can hear other cars on the road as if my window is down. Like I can hear when a car is coming up behind me and then as they pass me. I understand this isn't a $100,000 Mercedes, but still, it should be quieter than my Chevy Silverado I replaced.

What do I do if the dealership tells me it's just "normal" wind noise and "normal" cabin loudness ?????

They supposedly fixed mine, but I can still hear the noise. I looked on the blue link app that day and they never took my car for a drive to test the fix. They also didn’t want to check any other TSBs on the car. Apparently they don’t check them unless you actually have an issue. Needless to say I’ll be back this week.

Based on my experience with the service mgr at my dealer here in the N'east they did not hesitate to correct the issue....in fact the service mgr told me to say it was evident on both the drivers side and the passenger side (they had seen both sides on a previous fix and wanted to spare me a return trip if the noise was also on the passenger side..an abundance of caution on their part). They test drove the car (2 mins 1 person in the car) and confirmed it was a defect and have ordered the parts for the repair to both sides. looks like the parts are on back order as of yesterday as they got half of the 4 parts ordered. Will post when parts are installed with photos of old/new parts.

How could you tell using the Bluelink app that they never took the car for a test ride? Writing down the exact mileage when it went in for the fix may be a better way to see it they did drive it and how far.

I could see where the vehicle was on the map and I also as a precaution wrote down the mileage.

Good that you also wrote down the mileage. My experience with the Car Finder feature is that you have to make sure to refresh it or else it will show the last location, not the present location. Too bad that it doesn't show a moving dot or something while it is in motion.

About 380 miles on my Limited. Last night, I got the whistle/wind noise for the first time. It was unusually cold here in North Carolina (30's); I wondered if the cold was impacting the seals. I took it to the dealer today (whistle/wind noise on the way there; still in 30's). They took it right into service, and were well aware of the whistle/wind noise issue. After about an hour, they called me and said the tech found some plastic material that should have been removed at prep. They said he removed it, and the whistling/wind noise stopped. I was suspect of this and my look must have reflected that. They said they would order the replacement seals that the TSB recommends and install them when they arrived just to be sure. They were very supportive and seemed to be all over this issue. I left and to my surprise, the whistle/wind noise was gone! I wish I had more details about where the plastic was that they removed, but I don't. Just wanted to share this with everyone.

Every mechanic I take it to can not solve my issue even with a copy of the TSB in their hand. I know theres 4 possible fixes they tried them all and none of it did anything. Did anyone successfully resolve this? The questions I'm getting to is I live in Madison, WI anyone solve this that lives in the midwest? I'll drive to another wisconsin dealer / illinois dealer to solve this just trying to figure out if anyone around me has gotten this resolved.
