FCA system disabled, radar blocked

Looking to make your Telluride unique? Look no further than KDM Warehouse - where orders are shipped immediately!
We did go in on April 15. They kept it overnight. They ordered the part and getting a future appointment at Sacramento Hyundai takes a long time. At first they found no stored error messages and couldn't duplicate it. Even though it happens to us all the time. I told the service advisor to drive in on the highway and I sent them the picture I took of the error. The message did pop up for them while driving on the highway. Slightly odd since we also get it driving on side streets. Still don't know why the error didn't store in the computer. I also don't know if they actually could tell something was wrong but according to the service advisor troubleshooting guidelines say to replace the front camera. That is happening tomorrow.

Thanks for asking about this. I'll try to remember to come back and post the results after a few days of driving.

Did this resolve the issue? I have been having the same problem since the end of May on a 2022 Palisade Calligraphy. Have captured about a dozen pictures of the FCA disabled and blocked radar errors before taking it to the local Hyundai dealer in Gurnee, IL who, of course, could not replicate the problem.

2022 Palisade Calligraphy with 7500 miles. Radar blocked error appeared for the first time on a road trip over Memorial Day weekend. The weather was clear but hot (especially for northern Illinois) so I figured the sensor was covered with dead bugs. Went to the car wash as soon as I got home and didn’t have a repeat in the last week. Driving to work this morning in light rain, the alarm went off again and stayed on for about 20 minutes before seeming to resolve itself just a few minutes before my arrival at the office. On my afternoon drive home, I noticed my fuel economy meter was reset without me holding the “ok” button or filling the tank with gas, so I am thinking there may be a connection with the computer or some other electrical components.
Update on my 2022 Calligraphy. After taking over 50 photos and creating a spreadsheet logging the date, time, mileage and weather conditions, I finally got my dealership to agree there may be a problem. I left my vehicle with them for 3 solid weeks and they put 600 miles on it for testing and troubleshooting. I was told that they were working directly with the Hyundai engineer who designed the radar system and tried recalibrating things a few times, but my system wouldn’t work at all after the 2nd attempt so Hyundai agreed to a full warranty replacement. I just took the Palisade on my first road-trip after getting it back and the cruise works, but now I am getting an error displayed every few seconds telling me to check the forward collision avoidance assist system. The constant dinging is very annoying but at least the radar error is gone and the errors are constant so should be easy to reproduce. Will be making a 4th trip to the dealership this weekend.

I have a 3 week old Elantra that is doing this constantly after about 500 yards of driving. Nothing is blocking or ever blocked any camera. The dealership (who has a lot of negative reviews about their service department posted online) cannot look at my car until the end of the month. So my 4 week old car started doing this when it had less than 600 miles on it.

My service department keeps telling me that it’s probably just a bug or something hitting my sensor. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Start documenting the occurrences, including pictures of the error and document the mileage and conditions each time. I wound up spending about $15 at Walgreen’s Photo to make prints of all the photos I took of the problem, but it was worth it as Hyundai really couldn’t refute the claim that it was a real problem after that.

Be aware of the lemon laws in your state. IL considers a lemon to be 30 days in the shop within the first 12 months or 12K miles, whichever comes first, and there are other federal laws which may provide longer protections.

Unfortunately, I missed on the dates, but I am still under on the mileage and am considering starting the arbitration process as my Palisade is going in for the 5th time this weekend for the same related problem occurring for the last 4 months, and my vehicle was only drivable for 3 days after the last recalibration before the problems started again.

I am having same issue with my 2020 palisade. FCA disabled and radar blocked. Had multiple trips to dealer and they replaced front camera assay behind rear view mirror and AVN head unit. But warning still pops up frquently. Reported issue with hyundai and also opened case with NHTSA.gov. Looks like it is happens for many vehicle’s especially for palisades.

Great timing on your question. After keeping my Palisade in the shop for another 5 weeks to diagnose and repair the problem (again), I just got my vehicle back this afternoon and have had no occurrences of the system failures again. My service advisor told me he had 3 master mechanics working with the Hyundai tech line and wound up testing every pin in the connectors where they found multiple that were loose. This aligns with my observations that the failure warnings seemed to behave like there was a loose wire. Now I wonder if that was the cause of the original radar blocked error or if the loose pins were caused when my dealership replaced the radar unit in October. I would recommend asking your shop do a pin test to check for proper voltages and identify any loose connections. Good luck! Let us all know how it works out for you.

This has happened regularly so made appointment at dealership for April 15.

What did your dealership advise? I've been getting this error randomly for over 40K miles and my local Hyundai dealer said a picture does no good. they can only service the vehicle when the light is present, which is impossible in my case because it doesn't stay on longer than 3 minutes when it does come on.

Why don’t the dealerships believe the pictures of the faults?
We have a 2024 Palisade, we’ve had it 3 months. It started throwing all the radar disabled faults you all have described and pictured on a short trip. 60 degrees with occasional downpours or misty rain. The faults occur intermittently a dozen times over 50 miles. Nothing in front of or on any sensors, cameras or the windshield. The fault goes away and comes back. If it goes away does it mean it’s reset and working, only to fault again. In addition, for the last week the wipers would just run for absolutely no reason. We called service to ask if the car was safe to drive, they couldn’t say without hooking it up to the diagnostic computer, which by the sounds of all your threads, isn’t going to give them anything either. We ventured, tongue in cheek, guess we shouldn’t use the adaptive cruise control then. Their response…. gee I guess you probably shouldn’t trust it. Better get it in for us to check…can’t get an appointment for 45 days.
Sorry, I’m venting. Guess I’m expecting too much from a new $60,000+ vehicle.

We have a 2024 Palisade Calligraphy that recently have the issues with all safety radar systems being blocked. We have found it only happens when it rains and after a few days of no rain seems to dry out and problem goes away until it rains again. Got into it today after sitting over night when it poured and it came on right away. Was able to duplicate at the dealer because it rained earlier, but they are stumped.
