Prices Paid

So they gave you the discount and the financing ?
Well, dealer discounts don’t have any effect on what interest rate you’d get from Hyundai financing or any other lender. I have good credit and got the Hyundai 0.9% last year when it was offered.

Hi, I am looking for a 2021 SEL with both packages in the Chicagoland area. The best discount so far has been around $1600. Has anyone been able to do better for a 2021 model in this area?

Hey! Not in the Chigagoland area, but any dealer in FL / GA / AL I called and got out the door quotes on were willing to discount the 2020 + SEL Premium Package 2k. I actually visited one and they discounted it without me even asking, just after I asked for a test-drive. Seems dealers have more flexibility on the SELs than they do the Calligraphy / Limiteds.

Yeah, the top 2 trims seem to be in high demand. Or low supply. Or both. The only local dealer in town (or anywhere within 300 miles) has like 25 SEs/SELs, but no top trims. They fly off the lot as soon as they get there. But at least it's selling them at MSRP. This will be my first vehicle I ever buy at MSRP. Ha ha. But it's honestly worth it. Well, I also paid MSRP for the Tesla I bought a few months ago for my wife, but you don't have a choice with those folks. Bottom line is with that kind of demand, I honestly don't think ANY dealer would be stupid enough to sell at a discount those trims right now... and I live in a semi-crappy city. Ha ha. Maybe in some even smaller cities might be possible, so will follow this thread :).

At this point, I'll consider myself lucky if I can find the one I want at MSRP: FWD Calligraphy in white/brown-beige. By the way, brown-beige is only available in Calligraphy, and only in white and black. At any rate, waited a month for mine, and when it arrived last week, it had the other beige interior (which also has blue and black, and fake wood), so had to pass. Dealer said he has no such combination coming. So have to continue waiting. Or also settle for white/black or silver/black, which I really didn't want in hot TX. Will continue waiting for now.

They likely produce less limited and calligraphy models because the cost is higher. You’re going to generally see more SELs on lots because they’re available with various options that increase or decrease their costs. What someone is willing to pay or they think is worth it to them is always a personal thing. I like my Palisade, but I’d never pay 50 grand for one. That’s just me though.

Probably both. Hyundai has to estimate the demand of the various trim levels pretty far in advance, because of supply chain issues with vendors who make the parts. Now that they see the high demand for the Limited and Calligraphy, they "might" start producing more of those, especially for 2022 model year.

I always say it like it is, even if it's against me. And generally speaking, I have to admit that makes you the smarter person here :). Having said that, for people like me, looking for a more luxurious SUV, the Calligraphy is the smart purchase as well, since it's significantly cheaper than any other luxury SUV, and in many cases, it's actually better :).

Indeed. And typically, the higher trims are the slowest sellers, for almost obvious reasons... but nothing is obvious anymore. Ha ha. The 'problem' with the Calligraphy (and the Limited to some degree as well), as I briefly mentioned above, is Hyundai made an SUV that competes at a much higher level than their intended market, so you basically have people who thought would have to spend 20+ grand more for a luxurious SUV, can pay just 50 grand, and have like 95% of the luxury, and in most cases, with even more interior space, so that made it an instant winner. And now that the word has spread, dealers can't keep them for even a day after they arrive. So yes, I assume they'll make more next year, and will raise the price as well. At least hope they throw power folding mirrors, like the Telluride, and maybe power steering column too. That'd make it even better. And what would make it the best luxury SUV in the market would be a turbo V6 engine, but I suspect with Genesis around, Hyundai would never do that. However, they could introduce an AWD version with the extra luxuries of the GV80 as a Genesis. The GV80 feels like a Tucson, compared to the Palisade. Interesting times :).

I would bet money that demand for the Palisade Calligraphy would be even higher than it is now if Hyundai woke up and started using a decent looking wheel, instead of the "soccer ball" wheels on the 2021.

I could live with a Palisade SEL with Premium Package trim level if it had the BVM (blind-spot view monitor that shows in the instrument cluster as soon as the turn signal is engaged) and the 360 Surround View Monitor. These are must haves for me. I would also pay extra for no sunroof or no panoramic roof.

The way I'd build a 'Paliride' (Palisade/Telluride. Ha ha) would be a typhoon silver Calligraphy with the Limited/SEL 20" wheels, no 'panoramic' moonroof (like an SEL), the shift lever, taillights, aluminum pedals, and power folding mirrors of a Telluride SX Prestige, the way the beige/dark brown-beige interior comes, but gray (the Nappa color of the Telluride)/black instead.

Had to widen my choices, unfortunately, but looks like I found a silver/black FWD Calligraphy in ALB arriving next week, and at MSRP of $47,865.00, and since it comes with the bumper applique and cargo cover I don't really want, they're going to throw the cargo mat, so seems like a decent deal. They won't charge me any junk fees; not even a doc fee, or any other crap like that, so not that bad. I'll just take a cashier's check for $46,865.00, and pay tomorrow a $1K deposit. The local dealer has an identical coming, but in 3 to 4 weeks. So will probably put a deposit tomorrow on the ALB one, and drive 275 miles to pick it up, I guess.

I'm struggling with fort Mill Hyundai currently. They have it listed at 46,320 and want me to pay 49k for it. NOPE...
I am in the same boat. they have one advertised for $47,070. I received an "out the door" break down today, and the price is now $51,618.75. They are charging $3491 in "market adjustment/addendum" fees. Really?!

I just picked up a Limited AWD for my wife. $47,975 MSRP (mats, cargo mat, cargo net, splash guards). $500 under MSRP and $900 in incentives - $46,575 OTD (no fees). I found it to be a fair deal on the exact model my wife wanted, and I was in and out of the dealership in 45 minutes.
Too bad, they have a lot of problems with the AWD ones

What a useless troll-like post.

Some people report a driveline rumble. I'm sure they are few and far between. Just because a couple of owners may still be dealing with this issue in their new Palisades doesn't mean "they have a lot of problems."

For a three month period they did have a problem, over 100 bad palisades for the AWD axles
now so few, but one will still pop up. The same as any other car
Some people think 100 out of 86,000 makes a bad car.
It is now less than .01% with any major problem, one of the best rates out there.

Same here, for NC. My last quote was $49K -> $53K out the door for white limited AWD. I’m seeing quotes with $2K-$4K ADM on limited and calligraphies.

I might end up doing the same. Seems like San Diego had the best pricing.
I didn’t know about Costco though. I’ll look into that. Thanks!
I went to Palm Springs. No dealer markup. Just picked up a Limited.

Seems like markups are still going on, since Carvana is selling a 2021 basically identical to mine (trim, mileage, equipment, etc) for $53,590. Just priced a 2022 identical to mine, and it rang at $49,530, or about 2 grand over my 2021 (transportation ate up over half of that, as expected). And just priced my SUV with Carvana, and they offered $48,710, so they're making roughly 5 grand per vehicle. So guess 5 grand over is still the norm, huh?
