Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

Well...It's back in to the dealership for a 3rd time today. Last time they made the wind noise worse. I'm not expecting it to be fixed today. I think this is an issue Hyundai needs to figure out on the drawing table before deploying a recall fix. But the service adviser insisted I bring it back in to have it looked at since they got a not great review from me. But like I told them, it's not the peoples' fault at the dealership. They have no idea how to fix it. It's Hyundai's fault for cutting corners somewhere.

We all need to file complaints.... The only way this gets resolved is if people keep reporting it and complaining. If dealerships have Palisades in for the same issue over and over again, they will eventually do something to correct it.

I will post later if the wind noise got better after today.

I have problem with noise in the Palisade cabin. The higher the speed the worst the noise seems to be. A cross wind is even louder. I brought it back 3 times to the dealer to get it fixed. They tried changinging the door trim, door frame trim and mirror seals but nothing seems to work. Hyundai Canada and the dealership do not know how to solve the problem. Very frustrating.

Yes plenty of others with the "wind noise" issue. Try using the SEARCH feature before starting a whole new thread. Read all about it.

Good luck. I am hoping miraculously it does some good for you.

I am picking up my car from the 3rd visit to the dealer to fix the whistling from the driver's side window when my car goes over 70 mph and the wind hits the car just right. The first time they ordered new parts for both front doors which included new seals on the front door windows. There was some improvement. The 2nd visit they just moved a strip they said was out of place in the upper corner of the door. There was a little more improvement. This time they had the car for 2 days and said all the new Palisades on the lot have the same noise and it's worse than mine because mine has at least been somewhat fixed. I had thought getting a new door would solve the issue, but that route does not seem to be the answer. It is really the only flaw in an otherwise great car. I am going to YouTube next to see if there's anything I can do on my own. I had planned on keeping the car for 5 years, but that may change now.
After reading these forums, thankfully there is some explanation for the whistling noises in the Palisade fully loaded vehicle. We drove it on the interstate with the recirculating air on and there was NO WHISTLING NOISE! Finally. The remembering to push that button as we hit the interstate is a minor inconvenience that I will take. I am letting my dealer know that this worked after all their attempts to seal that driver’s side window. Thank you for all your posts. I no longer felt frustrated and alone in this issue. And there was a fix, for my car, at least.

That is all well and good, but unless that is a hidden feature by Hyundai that was engineered to instantly quiet down the cabin, then it is still not functioning the way it was designed. The recirculating air button simply means that fresh air is shut out of the vehicle through the hvac vents and recirculating air replaces it. Fresh air coming in, should not produce the kind of whistling wind noise owners are experiencing.
Unless of course, Hyundai is going about the fix all wrong, and the problem actually lies within the HVAC system. 🤔

I tried the same thing and it did NOT work. I still have the wind whistling noise at high speeds.

Are you saying that having the A/C Recirculation mode ON will fix the WHISTLING NOISE!??? I have not got my Palisade waiting for this to be solved.

Is anybody else experiencing a very loud wind noise on the driver side of the car at higher speeds. Mine is so loud it hurts my ears. I am going to take it to the dealer, but wondered if anyone else was experiencing it or took it into the dealer.
This is a ongoing problem and Hyundai has suspended the TBS on it we are stuck and Hyundai sucks

Hope you are wrong and they are working on a solution. Although, when the tsb was scratched, that sent a disturbing message. It could be argued they screwed up twice, 1.when the vehicle was manufactured and 2. When the worthless tbs.s were released.will 3rd time be the charm ?

They suspended it like a week ago. Gotta give it some time for them to come up with and roll out updates.

I can't imagine how some of you people would react if you had purchased something from a company that wasn't actually responsive to addressing issues.

How can they release a car with a major problem, not to mention the numerous rattles and Bluetooth problems-Poor quality control

If you think the few issues the palisade has is bad, you've never looked at a new roll out of any other vehicle. The couple of issues here are absolutely nothing.

You’re right I never should have bought it, if I wanted wind noise I should have bought a motorcycle

It's more of the apocalyptic stance that some people are taking here, as if Hyundai was doing their best impression of FCA and totally ignoring the issue. In a matter of a few months, they shipped enough vehicles to even identify an issue, came up with possible solutions, rolled that out to a vast network, spooled up a supply chain to support, performed the tsb repairs to enough vehicles to determine that wasn't solving all the problems and went back to work out a new solution. They're obviously taking this seriously and working to address it. The fact that a few days ago they pulled the tsb doesn't mean that they're ignoring the issue.

Obviously everyone wants this solved as soon as possible, but recognize what is actually going on here. This is a relatively minor problem (compared to other vehicles that roll out with fuel pumps that fail or spot welds on frames failing, etc) and Hyundai has demonstrated that they're working aggressively to fix it.

I hope you’re right

I just got off the phone with Corporate. Had a Case open regarding the wind/whistle noise. The case manager ensured me that the TSB is still valid and that any service department is obligated to conduct repairs if the issue is confirmed. That if any service dealership turn down repair or say the TSB is suspended to call back to her direct line. She offered me to take it to the dealership where I bough it from or to a closer dealership. Chose the closer dealership and have an appointment March 5th for diagnosis.

CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY .. this wind noise issue saga, sounds like something from the Three Stooges ...

How did they screw up with the TSB? I did fix some people's issue. It was clear from the get-go that this wasn't going to be the only fix. Case in point: they had multiple possible root causes listed in the TSB. That tells you they hadn't fully narrowed it down. Now with this talk of updated fix and no longer honoring the TSB, they may have gotten to the real fix. They could have waited until now to address it, but instead they released a TSB with possible issues while still working on the real fix.

Not sure what else you expect. They can't go back in time and fix the manufacturing of your car. They also can't magically make spare parts appear out of thin air, nor can they instantly figure out the fix that will solve every single car experiencing the issue out there.
